STACK SOCKETS
Stack sockets come in three flavors:
Standard Bolt-thru
Stack Socket
Bolt-thru with retaining ring
Stack Socket
Standard Closed
Stack Socket
All three can be used with square drive tools, with a socket, or inline tools with a ratchet link.
A Stacking Socket is used when there is a radial clearance problem, the nuts are too close for a conventional link, or if a
smaller tool wants to be used on a larger nut (low torque).
The size of the top hex and the size of the bottom hex can be any size you choose, however, sticking with more standard sizes
will be easier on your budget.
The Standard Closed Stack Socket can only be used with minimal stud extruding beyond
the top of the nut. When used with a socket and a square drive tool….the socket just slips
over the top of the Standard Closed Stack Socket.
The Standard Closed Stack Socket can only be used
with minimal stud extruding beyond the top of the nut.
When used with a ratchet link….the link just slips over
the top of the Standard Closed Stack Socket and can
be held to the stack socket by a standard retainer.
The Standard Bolt-thru Stack Socket
can be used with the stud extruding
beyond the top of the nut. When used
with a ratchet link….the link just slips
over the top of the Standard Bolt-thru
Stack Socket with no retainer. Of course
with a socket it would fit the same as the
Standard Closed Stack Socket.
The Standard Bolt-thru Stack Socket with the retaining
ring can be used with the stud extruding beyond the top of
the nut or not. When used with a ratchet link….the link just
slips over the top of the Standard Bolt-thru Stack Socket
with a spiral lock retaining ring holding the stack socket to
the link. It can also be used with a socket without the
retaining ring.
The Stack Sockets have a few standard sizes. However, if you need one to use with your own particular bolting issue,
then you can use the
Stack Socket Dimensions Form
and have one made to your specifications.
